We offer a range of ten different embellishing applications compatible with a wide range of paper stocks up to B1 format. SHD owners will have the production have the production economies, flexibility and quality to go beyond all existing processes.

“With a growing awareness of our impact on the planet, Scodix production offers benefits for sustainability benchmarking and eliminates the need to make dyes which can be etched with use of acids, wasted in litres of water - all impacting our natural resources. We take our role in this industry very seriously, so it is essential that we offer our customers all the benefits of increased production while not forgetting about our commitment to the environment.”

  • BookReady is the completely automated system for short-run and book-on-demand production inline to sheetfed digital printers.

Tecnau builds on its expertise in online cutting and stacking for sheet-fed print with the introduction of BookReady, offering the converting of SRA3+ (~13” x 19”) sheet sizes printed in 2up and 4up into final size book blocks such as A4 and A5 (letter and 5.5” x 8.5”) ready for nearline perfect binding.

BookReady changes applications on-the-fly without any manual intervention at full printing speed, enabling book printers to manage short runs and book on demand with exact page separation and no guillotine processing.

The new cut-sheet finishing solution may be equipped with an automatic 90-degree turning station to rotate 2-up imposed sheets from long-edge leading to short-edge leading, so that printer speed is maximised and book of one is made possible.

Book blocks are neatly cut, stacked, offset separated and delivered to a belt conveyor ready for the next finishing process. In addition, BookReady incorporates a space efficient design ideal for book printers.

"BookReady is designed to optimise production and facilitate finishing operations, building on the success of Tecnau’s Stack 1010 sheet-fed cutting/stacking system. The solution guarantees high efficiency while eliminating possible errors for customers who want to actively compete in the digital book sector for short runs and book on demand" commented Pete Dolfis, Tecnau's Vice President Sales, Americas.

  • + ASGA Commences Roll-out of Sign & Graphics Taster Courses

It has been a busy year for ASGA’s industry educatio...

    September 27 2022

It has been a busy year for ASGA’s industry education liaison managers, AusSIP. They have represented ASGA at nine career expos across five states, joined by a host of TAFE signage teachers, ASGA Directors and industry personnel.

“We’re pleased to report that we’ve obtained close to 400 sign-ups from the career expos. If we can convert a good percentage of those to apprenticeships in the next couple of years, this will go a long way in helping to ease the skills shortage in the sign industry that we expect will remain a problem for at least the short to medium term,” said ASGA President, Mick Harrold.

“We have the first of our signage taster courses scheduled for the 26th and 27th of October at TAFE Queensland, Southbank, Brisbane, with others around the states being organised for later in the year and early next year.”

The taster courses will be held in collaboration with various training institutions and industry suppliers and are designed as a hands-on introduction to various aspects of sign making. They will cover:

    • a general overview and introduction to the industry;
    • a mini-TAFE tour of the relevant facilities;
    • multiple hands on activities;
    • use of technology and suitable applications;
    • industry site visit.

A flier has already been distributed to those that signed-up for information on signage courses at the Queensland Careers Expos in 2021 and 2022. To ensure maximum take-up, we’re encouraging everyone to also distribute this to their networks.

The flier can be accessed here: https://tinyurl.com/eamcv8ja .

  • Epson has announced two new 44” (1118 mm) wide dye sublimation printers, the SureColor® SC-F6460 and SC-F6460H. The standard SC-F6460 delivers an enhanced colour gamut with better gradation and a significant speed improvement over its predecessor using a standard 4-colour ink set, while the SC-F6460H offers enhanced efficiency and features a new 6-colour ink set that is configurable for a choice of production applications. In short, the SC-F6460 has been optimised for speed while the SC-F6460H has been optimised for image quality and function. Both models feature a new pouch-based ink system and are powered by Epson’s latest PrecisionCore® printhead and upgraded image processing for faster production with enhanced quality at lower pass rates.

Key features of the SC-F6460 and the SC-F6460H

    1. Bulk ink system using simple tray-load 1.6 litre pouches for reduced mess, reduced waste and ink that stays fresh for up to 12 months in the machine
    2. Significant improvement in image quality with a wider gamut and better gradation
    3. Significant improvement in speed with a 20% ‘raw’ increase and sellable production that is up to twice as fast as that of the predecessor model
    4. Simple and easy to operate with a new 4.3” touch display, Edge Print PRO software and integrated support for Epson Cloud Solution PORT
    5. The SC-F6460H variant can be configured with a choice of three extended ink sets – OrVi for gamut maximisation, LcLm for gradation maximisation or FyFp for brightness maximisation (fluorescent output)

The SC-F6460 and the SC-F6460H have been specifically designed by Epson for dye sublimation printing. They combine single source design, manufacture, service and support resulting in a fully integrated solution with optimum image quality and maximum reliability. Both models enable configurable and flexible output to suit a variety of applications ranging from custom clothing and décor to soft-signage, hard signage and merchandise.

The new printers have been designed to be quick to install, easy to operate and easy to maintain. They produce predictable, accurate and repeatable output quickly and efficiently to deliver cost-effective production with low running and minimum labour costs.

Dye sublimation has increasingly replaced traditional screen printing in recent years as it produces images that are bright, colourful and extremely durable. The process, combined with the technology underpinning the SC-F6460 and the SC-F6460H, means jobs can be turned around quickly and efficiently and the digitisation of workflow enables easier image creation, editing and customisation.

As mentioned, the SC-F6460 and the SC-F6460H feature a new PrecisionCore printhead that is 33% larger than the previous model for faster ‘raw’ output. Its ultra-fine nozzles support up to 600 x 1200 dpi with Variable Size Dot Technology (VSDT). Upgraded precision dot technology enables superior quality to be achieved at lower pass rates.

Epson UltraChrome DS ink provides another advantage for the new printers as it is designed to provide consistent output with a wider gamut. The ink set incorporated with these new models features an HDK formulation for blacker blacks with a more neutral tone and deeper, more accurate colour. The ink is fast drying for rapid production and sublimates well ensuring even more cost-effective production.

Both the SC-F6460 and the SC-F6460H enjoy Epson’s most advanced image processing with the latest generation Epson LUT, HTM and print modes enabling faster imaging with better gradation. Epson Edge Print also facilitates streamlined production with a simple yet highly functional interface that accurately renders images on screen so what you see is what you get.

Flexible comprehensive service with enhanced backup and support
Epson provides a comprehensive ‘heads and all’ on-site warranty. Epson also provides optional additional cover that can be matched to individual leasing and operational requirements at an extremely cost-effective price point. Multiple CoverPlus packs can be combined with the base warranty to provide up to five years of total cover. While extending on-site parts and labour cover, they also provide additional component protection for your investment during the cover period.

For even greater peace of mind, the SC-F6460 and SC-F6460H feature integrated support for Epson’s Cloud Solution PORT service. Once activated this service not only provides enhanced reporting and management functions for the user, but also enhanced support capabilities. If a printer breaks down Epson can directly interrogate the machine, analyse the fault, attempt to remotely rectify it and if necessary, dispatch a technician with the parts required to get the machine up and operating again quickly and efficiently.

    Availability

The SC-F6460 and SC-F6460H are expected to be available in November 2022. They will ship complete with a 4-colour ink set and a roll of media. The SC-F6460H will come complete with an auto take up, which is also available as a separate option with the SC-F6460.

  • Ricoh, a leading provider of smart workplace technology, today announced it has been selected as a preferred print partner by leading holistic communications and marketing company, IVE Group.

Founded in 1921, IVE Group offers a broad range of creative, data-driven services as well as a portfolio of print and production capabilities. The company’s 2000 staff serve clients throughout Australia.

IVE Group Chief Operations Officer – Data-Driven Communications, Brent McCulloch, says the decision was made in December last year and the chosen Ricoh devices were fully operational by April of this year.

“Some of our printing infrastructure was reaching end of life and so it gave us an opportunity to see what alternatives there were in the market,” he says.

    Detailed assessment process

Prior to signing the new agreement with Ricoh, the IVE Group team undertook a detailed, three-step RFP process. The first step involved issuing invitations to tender to seven print vendors before a shortlist of three was formed.

IVE Group had initially planned to then conduct week-long, high-volume print runs at each of the three vendor’s facilities, however COVID-19 restrictions on travel meant this was unable to proceed.

“As an alternative, we gave the three vendors the opportunity to install their proposed equipment at an IVE production facility for a four-week proof-of-concept test,” says McCulloch. “The POC was to allow IVE to gain first-hand experience with how the equipment and vendors would perform in a simulated production environment.”

McCulloch says this approach put Ricoh's Pro C9210 in a direct face-off with flagship digital colour printers from two other vendors. Each of the systems ran the same jobs with the output and performance stats presented to senior management for consideration.

“The third phase involved vendor capability presentations and final commercial submissions at the end of December,” he says. “At that point, we selected Ricoh as our new preferred technology partner.”

McCulloch says this rigorous process was necessary because of the critical role that the new equipment would perform within the company’s production facilities.

“Choosing Ricoh was large decision for us at IVE Group, to bring in a new print vendor. The first in many years,” he says. “We made the change because Ricoh was able to clearly show it was the vendor most capable of meeting the production requirements of Australia's largest commercial printer.”

    The new printer fleet

A range of different Ricoh printers and associated equipment have been selected to meet IVE Group’s print production requirements. The models deployed are:

    • 6 x Pro C9210 digital colour production presses each with six paper trays, banner sheet capability and multiple stackers
    • 2 x Pro C7210X digital 5-colour production presses with a full complement of additional colour capability (white, clear, neon yellow, neon pink, gold, silver and invisible red)

·Top-of-the line EFI Fiery colour controllers drive each of the Ricoh digital colour presses.

“As part of the testing process, we found that the Ricoh printers gave us great quality and print registration ,” says McCulloch. “They were also able to deliver high levels of uptime and were preferred by our operating teams because of their ease of use.”

McCulloch says the new machines have been put to work on a number of different cut-sheet print runs and have also been used for some offset printing replacements.

“Ricoh has enabled us to increase our print efficiency which has lowered our cost base,” he says. “From initial installation to production, everything has gone very smoothly. Once each machine had been delivered to site, it was up and running within a week.

“The support we have received from Ricoh has been second to none. We look forward to working with them.”

“IVE Group is Australia’s largest diversified marketing and printing company and we are delighted that Ricoh has been selected as a preferred print provider after such a rigorous selection and testing process,” said Yasu Takahashi, Managing Director, Ricoh Australia.

“The unique aspect of having three competitive print engines operating alongside the machines to be replaced provided IVE Group with real insight into the production capabilities of the Pro C9210 and the support offered by Ricoh Australia.  It is a testament to the teamwork of our sales, support, service, logistics and operations that we were able to meet a very tight installation schedule.

“We look forward to strengthening our relationship with IVE Group.  Through improving our collaboration we can share expertise and experiences with each other, finding better ways to serve IVE Group and its customers, and incorporate feedback back into product development and the services we offer.”

  • The world is confronting a threat in the form of COVID-19, a virus that continues to restrict the way we have always lived. President and Representative Director, CEO of Seiko Epson Corporation, Yasunori Ogawa, explained how the company is dealing with COVID-19 and contributing to achieving sustainability and enriching communities.

President and Representative Director, CEO of Seiko Epson Corporation, Yasunori Ogawa

Ogawa said, “I would like to express my respect and thanks to the healthcare professionals and other frontline workers who are fighting to overcome this threat. COVID-19 has also severely impacted and changed our business activities. We have been doing everything we can in response to factory shutdowns, supply chain disruptions, national and regional restrictions on movement and changes in the market environment due to people modifying their behaviour.”

According to Ogawa, climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic are only a few examples of societal issues that we are currently facing.

Ogawa continued, “The United Nations has been sounding the alarm about the destruction of the natural world, saying that it is approaching the point of no return due to the actions of mankind. People have always sought enrichment, but the focus was on material and economic wealth. This desire for auence may be a contributing cause to these issues. Going forward, it is both necessary and desirable to enrich not only ourselves but the rest of the world and the global environment as a whole.”

“I think the world desires more than just material and economic wealth. People also want other, less tangible forms of wealth. They want to be enriched spiritually and culturally. Sustainability is a fundamental requirement for achieving this. We revised Epson 25 Corporate Vision for the start of fiscal 2021. We added “quality of life” to “achieve sustainability in a circular economy” and “advance the frontiers of industry” as material themes that we can impact long-term.”

Epson sees climate change in particular as a long-term global threat, as they see climate as a foundation of our lives and society.

Ogawa added, “Epson’s unique Micro Piezo inkjet technology can help to reduce environmental impacts. We will tackle this issue by using this technology to drive innovation in co-creation projects with partners who share our aspirations of creating new products and services that are eco-conscious and that contribute to higher productivity and a better working environment.”

Epson also revised their Environmental Vision 2050. They analysed their 2°C scenario last year based on the TCFD’s report and are now studying a 1.5°C scenario.

Ogawa explained, “We will accelerate our environmental actions too. In 2020, Epson was named to the CDP’s prestigious A List after attaining the highest scores for the categories of climate change and water security. There are other environmental issues, such as energy saving and resource depletion, that we will also continue to address.”

In addition to these environmental issues, there are various societal issues such as those described in the SDGs. In 2004, Epson became a signatory to the U.N. Global Compact, which sets forth 10 basic principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

Yasunori Ogawa concluded, “In 2018, we declared our commitment to achieving the SDGs. In 2019, Epson joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), a global coalition dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in global supply chains and we have been promoting sustainability in our own supply chain. Multiple Epson sites earned platinum in RBA audits. We see this achievement as a result of our sincere eorts. We will further accelerate our eorts by working with our customers and partners and contribute to achieving sustainability and enriching communities.”

  • Today the standalone digital presses and standalone converting line address the largest part of the market.

Hybrid presses can be defined as label presses that incorporate two or more printing processes (digital and conventional) in-line with finishing units (varnishing, spot colour printing, slitting, die-cutting and different embellishment techniques). Hybrid solutions benefit a label printer and converter with medium to long runs with either limited variation in converting (die cutting, slitting) and/or the need to add conventionally produced features, e.g spot varnish, cold foil.

Today the standalone digital presses and standalone converting line address the largest part of the market. To expand the growth potential of digital, new solutions are needed. Unavoidably, this will convert conventional printed work into digital production through cost optimisation. Think of larger volumes of SKU’s with the same die-cut shape, full-colour jobs which hold a static embellishing element. These can be printed more effectively with a conventional process and then enriched with digital full-colour printing. Trends in the market indicate luxury brands benefit from what their print provider offers: shorter runs, more versions and variations, variable text or graphics, and personalisation allowing much greater freedom of creativity. Nevertheless, they do not want to give in to brand identity which can be visualised through embellishing elements. Not unlike luxury brands, promotional brands are too looking to find better ways of connecting with consumers through the use of e-commerce.

Today, Xeikon launches a fully digital hybrid solution based on its (1) digital press (Cheetah or Panther series), the recently developed (2) Xeikon Label Converting Unit (LCU) and (3) Xeikon’s X-800 digital front-end. This solution can be configured to the need of the converter and becomes a powerful production system enabling label converters to step up their productivity whilst remaining fully flexible for all their customers' needs.

The main values of our hybrid label solution are:

    - From substrate to ready-label: a complete, single-pass production process flow
    - Eliminates a number of production steps resulting in higher productivity
    - Reduces waste and setup time
    - Opens up new business opportunities

“At Xeikon we take customer input seriously. Our solutions are cloud-connected, providing us with a lot of data on how the equipment is performing. This results in the ability to provide more automation in combining production runs to increase efficiency,” said Filip Weymans, Xeikon’s VP of Marketing, ''That is why, along with the presses, we develop fully digital converting and embellishing products such as the Xeikon LCU which can be configured into hybrid print and converting solutions.”

Xeikon hybrid solutions can hold both Xeikon’s Cheetah (dry-toner) as well as Panther (UV inkjet) technologies hence all end-user applications can be addressed through this offering.

Dry-toner is the proven technology for all applications requiring adherence to high food safety standards while delivering the highest, matte-finished quality and achieving high quality on standard natural paper substrates (wine and spirits). Today, the second-generation Cheetah technology is used in Xeikon’s current dry-toner digital presses.

Xeikon’s UV inkjet Panther Technology was introduced in 2017, with a specific focus on labels across industries requiring high durability including the health and beauty markets. These applications make use of the key benefits of the unique features of UV inkjet such as scratch, scuff, and rub resistance.

“Some of our customers call a hybrid solution the best of both worlds,” said Weymans, ”All developments at Xeikon fit into our mantra of digitising label manufacturing with the purpose of enabling label converters to develop a profitable and sustainable future-proof business.”

The Swiss developer and producer of high-end large format printers is celebrating its 15th anniversary. What began as a six-man operation has since blossomed into an internationally active company with 200 employees.

It was on 17 September 2007 that Reto Eicher, Roland Fetting and Hansjörg Untersander had the swissQprint company entered in the commercial register. With a crew of six, the company was under way. Already on board was the present CEO, Kilian Hintermann. The following year, notwithstanding the financial crisis then in full swing, the team launched the first swissQprint flatbed printer.

    Impressive growth
swissQprint has since grown to employ around 200 people. 130 of them, the founders included, work at headquarters in Kriessern, Switzerland. Just under 70 employees do duty at subsidiaries in Germany, Spain, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the USA and Japan. The company continued its growth through the pandemic years and pressed ahead with development projects. The latest product is Kudu, a high-end printer launched in May this year.

Swiss pedigree with a worldwide reach
Today’s product range comprises eight models: six flatbed and two roll to roll printers. More than 1600 swissQprint machines are in operation worldwide. Sales and service are handled by six subsidiaries in concert with over 30 distribution partners around the globe. Development and production of the machines stays seated in Switzerland. Company headquarters also recently began managing sales to the Swiss home market.

    An acknowledged brand
In adtech and digital printing circles especially, swissQprint is an acknowledged brand: a byword for precision, reliability and durability. Indeed, even the very earliest printers continue ticking along like a Swiss watch. Users appreciate the versatility and user-friendliness of these large format printers, with their efficiency that generates high added value.

  • The leading manufacturer of digital cutting solutions to the worldwide packaging, signage, display and manufacturing markets has underlined its commitment to customer service, unveiling a new online store to boost the speed and ease of ordering replacement consumables.

With the new platform from Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS), businesses can now minimise downtime when ordering and awaiting delivery of the vital components they need to bring designs to life.

“One of our key objectives is to achieve best-in-class performance for our customer service,” said Stuart Fox, President and CEO of Kongsberg PCS. “Since launching as a standalone business we have been working hard to ensure we have the best people, processes and programs in place to help us achieve that goal. I am delighted to say that we have now launched our new online sales platform to help keep businesses moving with a service that is faster, better and easier to use.”

The new cloud-based consumables platform, store.kongsbergsystems.com, is powered by Salesforce B2B, helping boost Kongsberg PCS response times and minimise delays. “The system also addresses one of our most common customer requests, enabling multiple account groups to be managed by a single purchaser,” said Stuart. “There’s also demo videos, advice guides and additional functionality to enable one-click re-ordering, as well as simplified access to a customer’s order history and information on their installed products.

“All this, together with improved ways of searching for individual bits, blades or other consumables, means that our customers can now enjoy a much simpler and therefore quicker ordering experience, ensuring their purchases are ordered and dispatched without delay,” he said.

    August 23 2022

Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA) has scheduled a webinar, Recruiting Overseas Workers on August 30, 3.00pm AEST.

The webinar will be presented by Warwick Ryan and Simonne Pengelly of Hickson Lawyers and Noelene Murray of Perdaman Global Services, and moderated by Vernon Kingman of Kingman Strategies.

It will cover the overseas recruitment process, visa and employment contract considerations and answer commonly asked questions, such as ‘how long does the process take?’ and ‘what happens after the visa expires’?

“With many sign businesses struggling to recruit staff at the moment and no magic solutions to fix the current labour shortage, this webinar is likely to generate a lot of interest,” said ASGA President Mick Harrold.

“The ASGA Executive Board is working hard to respond to the labour shortage issue, with many of us facing the same predicament. Recruiting apprentice candidates at the career expos has been a key strategy to date which we believe will see results in the medium long-term future, but we recognise that hiring skilled overseas workers provides a much more immediate solution.

“Many businesses are reluctant to go down the path of recruiting overseas workers because it seems too hard, but many that have taken the leap of faith have had success here, such as webinar moderator, Vernon Kingman. Our aim with this webinar is to let the experienced players in this field break down the steps involved and answer the many questions that people have on this topic.

“Even if those attending the webinar decide not to go down this path at this time,  they will come away knowing the approximate costs involved and who and where they can turn to for advice and assistance if the need arises later.”

This webinar is free for ASGA members and $33 inc GST for non-members. Registration is available online at: https://signs.org.au/Events-and-News/Current-Events.

  • Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers and 3D devices, has launched the MPX-90S, the newest addition to the VersaSTUDIO MPX series of metal printers.

The MPX series imprints text, graphics, and photos by striking metal or acrylic surfaces with a diamond-tipped stylus at high speed. Since the first MPX model was launched in 2000, they have been used in a wide range of fields, from the production of personalised items such as gifts and accessories, to industrial applications such as imprinting product nameplates, and medical applications such as permanently marking 2D barcodes on medical instruments.

Tony Miller, President, Global Sales and Marketing Division, said, "In recent years, the diversification of consumer tastes and preferences has led to a growing demand for personalised services. For example, gift and accessory shops want to offer new services with high added value, and individuals want to start their own original goods business by utilising their skills in design and other areas. The MPX-90S is the latest model in the series to respond to these voices with a simpler, easier to use, and more affordable version so that it can be introduced to a wider range of people."

The MPX-90S supports a maximum print area of 80 mm x 80 mm. It can print clearly and beautifully on hard metals such as brass, stainless steel, and titanium; precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum; resin-based materials such as acrylic; and materials with special surface finishes such as hairline, grainy, or alumite.

The printing process is simple and easy enough for anyone to use. Photos taken with a smartphone or text and illustrations created with commercially available design software can be loaded into the included Roland METAZAStudio software for simple editing tasks such as removing backgrounds or combining photos and text. Then, simply load the material into the device and print. The machine’s full cover ensures safe operation, and the imprinting method generates no debris, allowing the device to be used cleanly in a variety of locations.

"Since our founding in 1981," Miller said, "we have been helping to revolutionise processes and create new value in a variety of industries with digital solutions that make it easy for anyone to do work that previously could only be done by people with special expertise and skill. The MPX-90S is a solution that makes it easy to create attractive, premium gifts and accessories using metal materials that previously had to be outsourced to specialised vendors. We are confident that they will be a powerful tool to support the needs of retailers and businesses looking for profitable new services with limited staff and space, as well as individuals who want to start their own businesses from home. We will continue to expand our desktop product lines like the VersaSTUDIO MPX-90S to provide more people around the world with new business possibilities and the joy of creation."

  • + Virtual Brilliance - Currie Group Adds New Dimension to Service Support

    August 23 2022

Following a hugely positive response to its debut at PacPrint, Currie Group has officially launched HP xRServices, a mixed reality platform which it says will transform not only service delivery on the company’s range of HP Indigo digital presses, but its entire product range.

Marcus Robinson, Currie Group’s Director of Operations, says the company has been working for 12 months to implement this unique support platform that connects print service providers directly with Currie Group and HP product specialists at the touch of a virtual button.

“If you attended PacPrint in Melbourne, you may well have been able to experience HP xRServices or have seen other visitors on the Currie Group stand deeply engaged in activity using what appeared to be a set of virtual reality goggles,” Robinson says.

“These were in fact the Microsoft Hololens 2 headset which give users the feeling of being actually physically present with a virtual HP technical expert, who can guide them through basic service tasks, production troubleshooting or training on HP and other equipment, in real time.”

Like other augmented reality platforms, the headset combines real-world visuals with superimposed information, allowing the virtual coach to see exactly what the user sees, and collaborate to diagnose, identify and workshop issues.

“We’ve been fielding requests for reliable remote support for years but, until now, we hadn’t found a system we considered reliable enough to bring to market,” Robinson explains. “Now, with HP xRServices, we can confidently offer that virtual support drawing on the collaborative brilliance of HP and Microsoft in a print industry first.”

The technology, he says, is a ‘game-changer’, with the virtual support person able to display on-screen information, photos or drawings, circle or highlight various things in the user’s field of vision, identify parts, share documentation or provide other commentary – and also provide real-time feedback on the operator’s actions and adjustments.

“The benefits are obvious – no time wasted on long service calls, instant answers to production questions, swift resolution of any problems, all leading to minimal downtime on systems and equipment,” Robinson points out.

“The system has also proven valuable for installation and training purposes, an application that was successfully piloted during lockdown when technicians from Israel and Singapore collaborated with our technicians and CMYKhub staff on the installation of Australia’s first HP Indigo 100K Digital Press in Victoria,” he reports.

The innovative system has been specifically designed to support new or already-installed HP technologies with a high level of HP resourcing in the back end, but Robinson says it has now been made available for products across Currie Group’s entire range.

“This broad application, together with the affordability of the subscription-based system, is generating plenty of interest, with users able to add it to an existing service agreement, or as a stand-alone service. We’re also still offering it at our special PacPrint promotional price, making it a ‘no brainer’ for many of those who have seen it in action,” Robinson adds.

HP xRServices is just one example of how Currie Group is bringing even more resources to bear on supporting print service providers as they seek to successfully deliver on higher production targets in even shorter turnaround times.

“We’ve listened to our customers and responded with a differentiated service model which takes into account the delivery metrics businesses are subject to, and provides genuine value,” Robinson explains.

“Within weeks, we will also move to a ‘24/6’ support model which will see customers able to access technical advice and support 24 hours a day, six days a week, with our expanded technical support team.

“We’ll also be continuing to lift our service KPIs to further streamline call processing with instant call logging and response, extended remote support and reduced response times for on-site service, so printers can enjoy maximum uptime – and maximum profitability.”
